Sheriff
Kenneth Hammack took office in January 2005 and has since made many
changes to make the Polk County Sheriff's Office more efficient and to
serve the public better. Kenneth Hammack has 31 years in law enforcement
including 10 years as a Texas Ranger. While with the Department of
Public Safety he has acquired 2,800 hours of law enforcement training.

Chief
Deputy Byron A. Lyons started his career in law enforcement in 1986
working in the Polk County jail. In 1989 he enrolled in the Deep East
Texas Police Academy in Kilgore Texas. In August of 1989 he was placed
on patrol after successfully completing Kilgore Police Academy. In May
of 1990 he was hired by the Livingston Police Department as a patrolman.
In September 2001 he was hired as a Felony Investigator by the Polk
County District Attorney's Office. In 2005 he was asked by Sheriff
Kenneth Hammack to be his Chief Deputy.
