Bonding
The Polk County Sheriff's Office/Jail Division is responsible for accepting and processing bail for persons currently incarcerated. The Polk County Sheriff's Office will accept cash or surety bonds at the jail located at 1733 N. Washington, Livingston, Texas 77351. "Cash Bonds" are the full amount of the bond posted in either cashier's check or money order. "Surety Bonds" are bonds posted through bonding companies that charge a fee for their service. Once bail is posted, the defendant will receive a future court date and be released from jail.
Cash Bonds
Cash bonds may be posted at the control room window located at the Polk County Jail: 1733 N. Washington Livingston, Texas 77351
You may post a cash bond by paying the full amount of the bond by cashier's check or money order.
You must have proper identification consisting of a valid state or federal ID card or driver's license. All identification must bear the depositor's photograph.
If a defendant appears in court as scheduled and the case is disposed of, the court will issue a refund order.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office will accept all nationally recognized money orders and cashier's checks for the payment of fines and the posting of bonds.
Out-of-county cash bonds may be posted for another county's charges. You will need a money order or cashier's check for the full amount of the bond. The Polk County Jail Division will instruct you on whom to make the money order or cashier's check payable to at the time the bond is posted.
No personal checks are accepted.
Only exact dollar amounts are accepted.
No change can be given when posting a bond or paying a fine.
Surety Bonds
You must post a surety bond with a bonding company.
The bonding company will then post the bond for you.
The bonding company will charge you a fee for this service.
You may use any approved Polk County licensed bondsman for this service.

Personal and Pre-Trial Bonds
Release on a pre-trial bond means that the defendant is released from custody on his promise to appear in court on the scheduled date.
A judge is the only person who may grant a defendant's eligibility for a pre-trial bond.
Fines and Court Costs
Paying Fines and Court Costs:
To pay fines and court costs, go to the Polk County Jail, located at 1733 N. Washington, Livingston, Texas 77351. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including all holidays.
Payment of fines and/or court costs is required in cashier's checks, traveler's checks, or money orders.
No personal checks are accepted.
No change can be made.
